Sinus Nasal Tumor Surgery

Tumors of the nose and sinuses — though rare — can be either benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). These growths can cause obstruction of nasal passages, chronic sinus infections, facial pain, nosebleeds, and in some cases, affect vision or brain structures if left untreated. Because they grow in tight, complex areas near the eyes and brain, early diagnosis and precise surgical removal are critical.

Common Symptoms:

  • Persistent nasal congestion or blockage (usually one-sided)

  • Frequent nosebleeds

  • Facial pain or pressure

  • Swelling around the eyes or nose

  • Loss of smell or vision changes

  • Lump inside the nasal cavity or on the face

Causes & Risk Factors:

  • Prolonged exposure to dust, smoke, or industrial chemicals

  • HPV infection

  • Chronic sinusitis

  • Smoking and alcohol use

  • Genetic factors in rare cases

Solution:
Sinus and nasal tumor surgery is the primary treatment for both benign and malignant tumors. Advanced Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery or Open Surgical Approaches may be used depending on the tumor’s size, type, and location. Our ENT and Head & Neck surgeons work closely with radiologists and oncologists to ensure safe and complete tumor removal.

Surgical Procedure Overview:

  • Detailed imaging (CT, MRI) to map tumor location

  • Biopsy to determine benign or malignant nature

  • Endoscopic or open surgery under general anesthesia

  • Removal of tumor and affected tissues with precision

  • Reconstruction of affected structures if needed

  • Follow-up treatment (radiation/chemo) in malignant cases

Benefits:

  • Complete removal of tumor with reduced risk of recurrence

  • Relief from nasal obstruction, pain, and bleeding

  • Preservation of surrounding vital structures

  • Restoration of normal breathing and sinus drainage

  • Improved long-term survival in malignant tumor cases

  • Minimally invasive options for faster recovery (in selected cases)
