Adenoids Surgery

Adenoids are small lymphoid tissues located at the back of the nasal cavity. In children, they help fight infections, but in some cases, they become enlarged or chronically infected. Enlarged adenoids can block the airway, cause breathing or sleeping difficulties, and lead to frequent ear and sinus infections.

Common Symptoms of Enlarged Adenoids:

  • Persistent nasal blockage or mouth breathing

  • Snoring or noisy breathing during sleep

  • Sleep apnea or disturbed sleep

  • Recurrent ear infections or fluid in the ears

  • Nasal speech or difficulty swallowing

  • Chronic runny nose or sinus infections

Causes:

  • Repeated infections

  • Allergies

  • Genetic predisposition

  • Immune system overactivity in early childhood

Solution:
Adenoidectomy is the surgical removal of the adenoids. It is a simple and safe procedure, often recommended when enlarged or infected adenoids are causing persistent problems and conservative treatments (like antibiotics or nasal sprays) have failed.

Procedure Overview:

  • Typically performed under general anesthesia

  • No external cuts — adenoids are removed through the mouth

  • Usually completed within 30 minutes

  • Often performed along with tonsillectomy if needed

  • Same-day discharge in most cases

Benefits:

  • Improved breathing and nasal airflow

  • Better sleep quality and reduced snoring or sleep apnea

  • Fewer ear and sinus infections

  • Enhanced speech and swallowing in affected children

  • Increased energy and overall well-being in kids
